Artist Bio

Juliana Bedoya is an emerging artist born and raised in Colombia were she graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (Bachelor in Fine Arts, Major in Contemporary Sculpture and attended the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia in Spain where she completed Media Studies.  


She has over 10 years of experience working in collaboration with diverse communities and interdisciplinary teams within the context of community art projects that effect social change. She has facilitated the artistic component for different governmental and non-profit initiatives with diverse types of communities including public schools, youth, seniors, communities in poverty, illiterate populations, ex-guerrilla and ex-paramilitary members, under age prostitution, Afro-Colombian ethnic groups (in partnership with United Nations and City of Bogota Development Plan, European Union funding for the social and productive re-insertion of child soldiers in Colombia, Zone of Tolerance work with under age prostitution, among others). 


She has also developed outdoors programs in natural parks in South and Central America facilitating experiential education trough the arts and interacting with the local communities. Juliana has exhibited her performances, drawings and public art installations in Colombia, Spain, Hungary and Canada. 


Juliana currently works as art educator teaching at different community centres in Vancouver and works as Volunteer Coordinator and Program Assistant at ArtStarts in SchoolsShe is also a member of Something Collective and is one of the selected artist for the Incubator Project, a three year community based studio residency at Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre (Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and the Sunset Community Centre Association).
